Recently, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata won the award for World Car Design of the Year. This is a huge accomplishment, and one that is not without merit. Mazda has put a lot of effort into developing the design language behind its KODO: Soul of Motion design and this week, Mazda gave us an in-depth look at that work with its Design Director, Julien Montousse.

Mazda exhibited some of its most dynamic cars at this year's Miami Art and Design Festival. Now, to many it may seem presumptuous to exhibit cars at an art gallery, but Mazda made its exhibition into an interactive and educational exhibit, giving fans a look inside the design process that goes into crafting these award-winning Mazda vehicles. For example, the Mazda MX-5 Miata focuses on principles of simplicity and reflection, giving it a unique silhouette and emotional impression from different angles, appearing to almost move and flow as you look at it.

This is just one example of how Mazda's KODO: Soul of Motion design creates a unique emotional impression, and with the awards piling up for Mazda's 2016 model year, it seems to be working! So, if you'd like to get behind the wheel of one of these uniquely designed new Mazdas today, visit us at Fox Mazda in Grand Rapids for a test drive!
