Way back when the new Mazda3 was first announced, Mazda made us a promise. They promised us that the Mazda3 would eventually have a bigger engine and a manual gearbox and we've been waiting ever so patiently for that. Now, the time has finally come.
Amidst the hype of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, the company has also announced the 2015 Mazda3 with a Skyactiv-G 2.5L 4-cylinder with a 6-speed manual transmission. Not to worry, though, the automatic will still be available as well.
Not only has this added an air of fun to the already zippy Mazda3 but it is also putting both the sedan and hatchback on a diet with the hatchback Mazda3 losing 40 lbs and the sedan losing 54. This weight loss doesn't make for much better fuel economy but with an already impressive one, that's alright with us.
