Attending this year's Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk was a first for Marilyn Irwin, a proud Fox Ford Mazda employee!
She raised $2,300 on her own, helping to contribute to the $200,000 raised that weekend. Participating in this inspiring and challenging event, Marilyn's enthusiasm for this great cause has blossomed. Marilyn described the challenges of trekking 58.5 miles in 3 days as, "sore but well worth it." She continued to say the event was, "a life changing experience that I plan to continue!"

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk
Aug 15-17, 2013
The Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day walk kicked off at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. Day 1 of 3 began with a 20.2 mile stretch through New Hudson and Wixom. Local residents and supporters cheered for walkers on along the way. Cool morning temperatures and fair weather added to the delight of the first day of walking.
Saturday's walk would be the longest stretch. At 22.3 miles, day 2 proved to be a longest day for most walkers. Along the way a pink running fountain in Plymouth and local fire stations along with private cheering stations cheered the walkers on. The evening continued with a great camp show highlighting cancer survivors and co-survivors, followed by a spirited dance party.
On Sunday morning, walkers started the 16-mile route through the neighborhoods of Livonia and Dearborn Heights. With sunny skies and hot temperatures, several community cheering stations lined the walk offering motivation, water, treats and fruit.
The scenic highlight was a stretch of over 400 cheerleaders from the local communities motivating each step on the way. The encouraging Closing Ceremony at Ford Motor Company Headquarters, hosted speeches from Dr. Sheri and the Survivors' Circle. The messages inspire all to continue to fight for the cause and to continue the tradition of the Komen 3-Day in Michigan in 2014.
